Buff Kavelman Elected to Good Shepherd Services Board of Directors

On March 11th Buff Kavelman was honored to be elected to the Good Shepherd Services (GSS) board of directors and thanks the Robin Hood Foundation for referring her to this opportunity.   In partnership with the community, GSS has built a continuum of neighborhood-based youth development, educational, vocational, and family support services including more than 90 programs—all dedicated to meeting the needs of New Yorkers who live in neighborhoods where inequitable education and scarce resources are pervasive.  Each year it helps over 30,000 NYC children, youth, and families to succeed and thrive.

Founded in 1857 by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, since the 1940’s GSS has partnered on a nonsectarian basis with New York City communities.  The organization goes where the need is greatest—where problems are deeply entrenched, obstacles are high, and neighborhoods are often untouched by other support systems.

GSS takes a serious and rigorous approach to its work and sees limitless potential in the communities it partners with.  Its impact is measured by data to inform its proven approach and new, innovative ways to respond to what children and families need.
