Mustapha Atki launches the Moroccan Association for Natural and Cultural Heritage

We are thrilled to congratulate our colleague Mustapha Atki for launching his new organization, the Moroccan Association for Natural and Cultural Heritage (MANCH).

MANCH was founded by Atki to support initiatives to study, document, preserve, promote, and value the cultural and natural heritage of Morocco. The organization works in tandem with communities to develop sustainable initiatives with local, regional, and international impact.

Through training and technical assistance, MANCH will support preservation and archaeology professionals in projects throughout the country. In addition, MANCH will undertake a variety of research initiatives and conduct fieldwork, as well as step in to offer disaster relief. All of this work will be brought to the public through advocacy within private and public institutions and through awareness-raising around these culturally significant sites and their important educational, social, and economic potential.

The Kavelman Group has worked closely as an advisor to Atki over the past three years during which time he has been a participant in leadership development initiatives supported by the J. Paul Getty Trust. We look forward to seeing MANCH grow and serve as a global model in enacting and sharing heritage conservation.

We’d also like to recognize the important work of Zahid Mohammed, Habiba Atki, Rabouli Ghita, and Ahmed Oumouss, who with Atki form the founding board of MANCH.
